Mellons Bay School Board - Casual vacancies for 2 parent representatives

Due to two members moving on at the end of 2020, two casual vacancies have occurred on the school board for two elected parent representative places.

The board has decided to fill these vacancies by selection.

If 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancies, then a by-election will be held.

Second Hand Uniform Sale - Thursday 25 March

Second hand uniforms will be available for sale on Thursday 25 March in the office:

Times - 8.00 - 9.00am and 12.30pm - 4.30pm

Happy to take any second hand uniforms for donation or to sell on behalf.

School back at Alert Level 1 - Friday 12 March - Midday

Good news as of midday Friday March 12 at midday, we are back in Alert Level 1.


Parents and families are welcome back onto school grounds.  We will be able to continue school events/trips. We will be holding assemblies and opening our drinking fountains.


Rest assured we will still be following our hygiene and washing practices.

Alert Level 3 - School Closed

The Government  announced that at 6.00am Sunday 28 February, the whole of Auckland is to move into Alert Level 3  for the next 7 days.  

Alert level 3 advice as of today is: 

You must work from home unless you are not able to and all children should  learn from home where possible. Stay home to avoid any unnecessary spread. 

We will be open for those children whose parents/whanau must go to work and  there is absolutely no other option but to send your child/ren to school. Please  exhaust all options to ensure our children can be safe.

As  before in Alert Level 3 please meet one of our senior management team at the front  gate and we will walk them to the library. Please do this from 8.45am and we will  walk your child/ren back up to the front gate at 2.30pm.

Teacher Only Day - Monday 22 February

Just a reminder that school will be closed to students on Monday 22 February for a Teachers Only Day.

Auckland in Alert Level 2 from Midnight Wednesday 17 February

School will return for normal classes on Thursday 18 February.

Uniform Shop Open - Thursday 4 February


Shop hours in term time will be Monday 8.30am - 9.15am  and Thursday 2.30pm - 3.15pm


Second hand uniforms will be availalble on the night of Meet the Teacher on Tuesday 16 February from 6 - 8pm in the office.

Summer Uniform - Uniform Shop

Hats need to be worn from the first day of  term 4.  If you require a new hat, they are available on KINDO or the school office.

From the start of term 4, students are able to wear their summer uniform.  Please note this is not compulsory until after the Labour Weekend holiday (27 October).

Please note the new date for PhotoLife class, individual and sibling photos will now happen on Thursday 26 November.

Our Team Supporting Ronald McDonald House

Cooking at Ronal McDonald House May 17Last week a team from Mellons Bay prepared meals to support the families with sick children and Ronald McDonald House.  Fundraising was through a mufti day gold coin donation so thank you generous families.   Judy Costello, Colleen Margison, Roxy Morrison, Hayley O'Dwyer, Pam Speight and Janine Wymer cooked for over 60 families, the meals are greatly appreciated by the families enduring stressful times.
