PTA
The primary function of the PTA is to strengthen relationships between the home and the school. They also raise substantial funds to assist our children and school community. Each year there is a programme of events which facilitates these aims. All PTA members are volunteers and their work for the school is much appreciated and highly valued. The school relies on the PTA to help achieve Mellons Bay School annual and strategic goals in relation to resources, equipment and development.

The PTA are always looking for volunteers to help with many activities happening around the school. Any volunteer time is appreciated, there is no big time requirements needed. Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet other parents and feel part of the school community.

Executive Committee
The executive committee consists of approximately 6 people including the Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Fundraiser. The purpose of having an executive committee is to make decisions on behalf of the PTA. Some of these decisions may need PTA consultation, however, the executive committee have delegated authority regarding some decisions in order to keep PTA moving forward.

This role involves facilitating PTA meetings, being the face of the PTA, liaising with PTA executive and school management, having the complete overview of PTA issues, activities and direction.

This role involves compiling agendas and minutes for PTA meetings. It also includes keeping policies and procedures up to date and general communication to PTA members as required.

This role involves has two key focuses. The first being the contact person and caretaker of all parent involvement with PTA events and activities. Secondly to improve home communication, for example, Facebook, Wi chat, text and working with classroom representatives to get parents closer to what is happening in their childs personal life. The Treasurer is responsible for managing the PTA accounts and reporting of the financial position at PTA meetings. The Treasurer also assists with any financial tasks relating to events, eg. Floats, eftpos, banking etc.

The fundraising team is usually led by one or two people who organise fundraising activities and enlist a group of helpers, parents or PTA members to assist.
Parent Class Representative
The PTA has developed an initiative for parents and students to connect and enjoy the social
aspect of being at school.
Each year there will be a request for a parent to be the Parent Class Representative for your child's class. The volunteer for this role will be given a class list from the office with contact details of parents and students in that class.
The Parent Class Representative then maintains that list (make changes or additions as required), distributes the list to each family in that class, and organises social events throughout the year. Permission for details to be distributed to class members, is given by parents on enrolment.
IMPORTANT: If you do not wish for your details to be shared with class members, please advise the office on enrolment.
Lunchroom
The lunchroom is a PTA fundraiser and contributes substantially to overall funds raised. It is managed entirely by volunteers. There are 3 main roles:

School Help Form

Introduction
The school identified a specific need for an administrator who could assist with applying for external grants for school resources and equipment. In 2010, a part time development administrator was employed. This role compliments PTA fundraising activities. Over the years, the role has expanded to include developing new marketing material ie. the school prospectus and being the dedicated resource for maintaining the school website. This has enhanced our service and communication to parents and the local community. The role also includes the production of the newsletter, sourcing newsletter sponsors, the back up for library and administration staff, and the coordinator for ASB school banking, Yummy Apples and Meadow Fresh promotions, BNZ Closed for Good, Fields of Dreams School Swimming at Lloyd Elsmore and SunSmart Schools.

- Junior playground building with the assistance of Lion Foundation, Pelorus Trust, Blue Sky Community Trust and Southern Trust.
- Piupiu for our Kapa Haka group with the assistance of the Howick Club and the Howick RSA.
- Junior school readers and ESOL resource with the assistance of the Lion Foundation.
- A fort for our junior playground with the assistance of Blue Sky Trust
- Assistance for maintenance and running cost for our school pool over the summer period from Auckland City Council.
- New rugby and football uniforms funded by Trillian Trust.
- Science Trolley funded by Founr Winds Foundation.
