Why Attendance Matters

  • Missing school - even a day or two each fortnight-adds up quickly and affects progress, confidence and friendships

How Parents and Whānau Can Help

  • Ensure your child attends every day they are well enough

  • Contact us as soon as possible if your child is absent

  • Keep your contact details up to date

  • Work with us in partnership. If attendance becomes a concern - together we can solve it early

What the School Will Do

  • Track attendance daily and follow up unexplained absences

  • Let you know if your child’s attendance is dropping

  • Share attendance data each term

  • Offer support to remove any barriers to attendance

  • Work with external agencies when needed

What Happens and When

0-4 DAYS


The school will follow up and
record absences

5-9 DAYS


Class teacher makes contact with
you to offer support

10-14 DAYS


Deputy Principal makes contact for a meeting
and to offer support

15+ DAYS


Principal meets with parents.
Other agencies may become involved
